You may have seen the recent pics of my rescaped SW tank. I forgot to clean the back glass, which is covered in a carpet of algae. All my algae snails died in the power outage, so I had to buy some new ones. Turbos never lasted for me, so I bought three astrias, and three margaritas. The astrias have done nothing. The three margaritas wiped about a 1/4 of that back glass clean, IN ONE NIGHT. I bought three more the next day. Now they have 2/3 of the algae completely gone. They are cleaning my intake and my filter output to a spotless shine.

FORGET THE TURBOS, GET THE MARGARITAS.

nice... are those the colorful snails

I put 100 Margaritas in my tank, to take care of an infestation of red turf algae. The ones that didn't crawl out are now inhabited by blue-legged hermits. Now I use turbos & they have almost irradicated the red scourge.

Haha, the maragritas won't eat the red turf in my tank either, but I don't have much of a problem with that. My problem is the brown algae.

Well, I was told they would eat the red stuff, which is why I got 100 of them. Luckily they were only 35 cents. Most of them I found on the rim or on the floor bewhind the tank. The rest of the blue-legged "margaritas" have now been fed to my Mantis shrimp.

The good news is, they have decimated the rest of the algae in my tank. I am going to have to feed them to keep them alive! LOL

Nice...how big are these guys, ewurm?

I don't think they'll last in my predator tank, but my reef is coming together and it might be a good addition. The only down side is that you can't say you have "Turbo Snails"...which is hands down, the best common name EVER.

They're about an inch. They're much smaller than turbos, but much hungrier.

My Mantis shrimp ate 20 margaritas in less than a week. He can't crack the turbo--he's tried.
