you should have swallowed the fish there as a big F U to the store owner. It was really the only way to handle that situation

It doesn't sound like the worst deal to me depending on what kind of brichir and front you got.....but then again I loath oscars but that's just me
I got a very small Albino Bichir and also a very small frontosa, I dont know much about the two just know that they get pretty big, monsters that is....
It going to take a while for your front to become a monster. My guys are about 2 years old and the biggest one is about 7".
two years old and only 7'? do you feed them two times a day?
Depending on what kind of Africans the "4" were and the overall condition of the fish...
When I had my store in Virginia I would have given you $35 store credit or cash max unless you were a "known" good customer. That price is based on the "market" in Virginia at the time.
Oscars...$5 credit each.
Cons...$1 each (unless they were massive)
4 "common" Africans $2 each (again, unless they were huge or uncommon)
$1 each for the Zebra fry.
Back then you could barely give an Oscar over 5" away and Cons (even good sized ones) were only $2.49.
So all in all I would agree that you got rooked but not horrendously.

Too make matters worth, there is this guy friend of the family that has been bugging me to sell him one of my tanks. He wants me to sell my 55 for 100 bucks, and I told him no way. Then he was like "come on I will give you $150, I need to buy a tank and since you already sold your Oscars why dont you sell me your tank".
