Fossochromis Rosturus

Hey all . I have an 8 inch male fosso and was wondering how big they get? Some sites on line say 10 inches most say 12 and one said 17? I had him for a year or so in a 90 with a few other 6 inch haps and he only grew about an inch in the last year. Thanks in advance.

they grew to 7 and 8 inches respectively.

My male was ~12" when I got rid of him. He was only ~1 yr so I'm sure he was still growing.

They can get big... like over a foot big. They also tend to get meaner with age.

They definitely get over a foot long. There was a show fish at the ACA that was about 10"

My Fossorochromis Rostratus just died a few weeks ago and he was 8-9 years old.

At the time of death he was ~35cm or about 14"

Was your Fosso agressive? What size tank was it in and with what?

Many of these Malawi cichlids seem to get bigger than they are listed. I would err on the side of bigger.
