Fossochromis Rosturus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a fosso. in a 90 gallon is crazy. Is this a standard 4ft 90? They definitely need at least a 6 foot tank. You would probably see faster growth rates also.

This is an old home tank I bought from a local fish store going out of biz, 6ft x 18 " but only 12 inches tall. googfy looking tank but works great for cichlids.;)

Was your Fosso agressive? What size tank was it in and with what?

Once Rostratus pass the 10" they get really dominant in the tank.

They are so heavy in body mass at this time that there are few fish that can stand up to them. When mine reached 12" I had to remove him from my 400Gallon tank ( don't know the american sizes, but the tank is 250x80x70cm) Since then he has been residing in his own tank with a few crossbreeds to distract him. This tank was 175x100x50cm.

1" = 2,56cm

The reason why I removed him wasn't because he was killing all the fish(he didn't fight much, he did kill some large males that started to get dominant) but he was really dominant and he wouldn't accept any other couples to spawn.

He was kept there with some of my Stingrays.
