how many females were you keeping with him
in the wild they stay in large groups
was thinking of adding another female to give his current wifey a break
he's chasing her right now as i type
this guy is always in the mood

and pics dont do justice to all the colors he goes thru

I kept 1 male and 3 females alone in a 55 gallon tank. He never harmed the girls, just chased them around non-stop, I'm sure he would have been happy with more!

The females bred and held to term at about 6 inches, the male was maybe 8 inches in those photos. How much are the juvies at your local store? I traded my group and their fry into a fish store when I moved and never knew what they sold the fry for. I didn't have time for Aquabid at that time... oh well. Most people won't know what they are or get interested in them by looking at juveniles... gotta show pics of an adult male to folks

i think they were selling for around 7.99 they were pretty small
cool little dudes
i bought my female Fosso at same store for 9.99 when she was a little bigger than the ones they had
true at a young age they wont make you stop and stare
i liked how she was scooping and spitting sand constantly
then i read they did well with Cyrtocara Moorii
so i picked her up
shes one of the fish i hand feed in that tank
the two Rostratus are always HUNGRY
