Hi everyone,
I found a florida Gar for sale on CL. I have an empty 72 gal bowfront. I don't know if this is even enough for one.
If anyone can point me in the direction of some good reading, or offer any thoughts I would greatly appreciate it
:D

--will post pictures as soon as I receive them--

i wouldnt get it. that tank is not near big enough

I wouldn't mind having that big of a tank eventually.
I just have this empty tank and don't know what to put in it.
I have cichlids now, so I wanted something else that isn't the common pet store fish, if that makes sense.

I know I can upgrade, money wise, with no problem, it's more of a matter of time if I can do it when the time comes. Going to be moving and already have like 6 tanks to break down and move.

Gars are awesome ancient fish with loads of personality. Are you sure it's a florida gar? Florida gars don't get as big as some of the others in the gar family(they get right around 18"-24"), So 72g(depending on how big he is now) will house him until an up grade is possible. The long nose-cuban-and aligator gar will get huge!!!

Hope this helps,
Chris

It was an add on Craigslist. It only said "heavily spotted Florida Gar" I have emailed him for pictures, but haven't gotten a response yet.

there is a picture of the fish. The people who have him say he's about 12 inches long. They are selling him because he started eating the fish they like more....they have him in a 10 gal tank right now to keep him away from their favorite fish. 72 gallons is probably too small for him but it's better than the 10 he is in :(
