Found a florida Gar for sale, have never kept these fish before.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want him :(, great fish youve got there ive been looking for one for ages.

Oh, i fort you had him, and no im about 123232 milles away LOL!

Although I'm not a fan of getting the fish before the tank, if you know 100% that you can upgrade him in the future he will be fine in the 72g for a little while. The first foot is always the fastest, I haven't kept them but I've read it will probably take another few years to hit full size.

If he was in a 10g tank, well, first I can't believe that he grew to a length of 12", unless he was kept in another tank and they moved him to the 10g to seperate from the other fish. Depending on his lifespan in the previous tank, he may be done growing or near maxed or has a very slow growth rate. There are plenty of people that succesfully keep Floridas in a 72x18 footprint. I also agree with not buying a fish that you currently house for life, but if you do plan to upgrade, anything is better than a 10g tank. Also, you will love the fish and anyone that visits will be amazed. They are definantly an awesome conversation piece.

He wasn't in there his whole life the lady i talked to said "he was in the big tank but I had to take him out because he started to eat the smaller fish that cost more so I put him in the 10"

No don't get the fish, leave it to someone you can properly house and take care of the fish.
