Found a male wild caught Festae. Thinking about buying

Hey is that fish from 50? Or fish bowl?
I saw one in 50 about a month or so back when i got mine i almost got that bad boy!
There was a female at fish bowl idk if shes still there are not.

That picture was taken in 50. There were at least 3 of them there at one time. One of them ended it's days belly up in the feeder pond.
F0? Nah. Neither are they Ecuadorian. Their pigmentation is too chalky looking and too void of spangling to be either.
50 has sold smaller F1 pairs for $400 on more than one occasion. They've never had Festae that size for less than $200. Illogical.

Yeah i did get him from 50... Wait.. It sounds like i may have been hoodwinked by Mike. According to him he is wild caught.. Now if that proves to be false i cant see myself doing business with them again. Ive never heard of them false advertising.

Sad to say, but that Festae isn't F0. I too, saw those when they were there. I know another guy that bought a male also, and they are indeed void of trademark spangling and typical male Festae brilliance. Flakes, pellets, nor anything else will put any spangling into these. They never had it and never will. The one that wouldn't eat had some nodules on it's fins and cottony growths on the body. They tried treating him for a couple of weeks to no avail. They eventually moved him into a feeder pond and the last time I saw him he was still in there but dead and decaying. They got in a bad group and it's obvious they labeled them F0 just because their supplier claims they were. Profiteers know what buyers/sellers want to hear and will not hesitate to oblige them.:shakehead

Sorry to bump old threads but I wanted to ask. Do people still import WC cichlids into the states?
I ask because I have some festae that were supposed to be wild caught. I grew them out and I have one male left (7"+) and some grow outs from the pair I gave me friend (I took all of his fish when he got out of the hobby).

I am just seeing more and more WC labeled fish in New Orleans, and wondering if any of my old stock really were.
