Had the day off from work today so headed about an hour away to Lansing to Preuss Pets that I have heard really great things about. Got there and was overwhelmed by the fish and other animals. They even have a sturgeon living in with some koi in this indoor river, it kept coming out of the water onto the rocks wanting to be fed. It was pretty funny, this little girl was completely terrified of it. Ended up talking to one of the workers and he took me on a tour of their backroom with it being my first time there, where they are breeding a lot of their own fish along with their coral and plants. The backroom was crazy and seeing all of the little itty bitty fish was great. Their fish were all very healthy looking and they had fish ranging from juveniles to large show fish. I definitely will be taking more trips across the state to see them. It's worth the drive, and having people that are actually interested in talking to you about the fish, about their fish they have at home and actually having recommendations about what would do well with your tank instead of simply handing you whatever fish.
I was looking for some severums, but they only had red dot severums at about $60 a fish, which I would love to have gotten one but don't have the money to spend that much on one of them right now. I was looking more for a redhead or just a simple green.

Ended up finding one at the other LFS closer to home because the owner called me saying they had finally got some in.

attached is my new little sev, it's only about 1.5inches right now and is not scared of anything. Faced my 3 inch JD who was attempting to scare it away from his hiding log but instead, the sev just went around him and went right into his log and now the JD is moping on the other side of the tank, basically not knowing what to do with a fish that isn't scared of him. ha. (: Can't wait to watch it grow.

Next time I go, I will. I am going to try and see if I can find pictures that someone else has taken of it.
i found a picture of just part of the river. the smallest koi they have is about a foot long, and they also have a giant gourami in there as well.

I found a video of the store, people talking and all that but still shows their tanks and things. (:

They teach classes here as well, they have a whole classroom and you can take school classes there and they will teach them about the fish, lizards, snakes, etc.

Wow I wish you'd taken pics of that sturgeon, that sounds amazing.

I was there a couple months ago and got pics of their sturgeon. Here's one:

I have some on my computer of it begging for food like described above. I'll try to remember to put them up tomorrow!
