Just cruisin the web and stumbled upon a program that lets you to keep track of multiple aquariums.

Not my program, not selling it, have nothing to do with it so don't bust my butt or flag this as spam.

Per their website, http://www.aquariumlab.com/
Aquarium Lab is a complete aquarium tracking software package for Windows XP, 2000, and NT that will help you maintain healthy aquarium conditions

I downloaded the file, and it was only a 30 day trial. I wouldn't buy it at all-even for only 1 cent- because I will never use it. I found it very basic-all stuff that any normal fish keeper doesn't need reminded to do. Not trying to be a downer:), but I didnt like it-just my 2 cents-make that 1 after I buy the software.
Edit: above is about Aquarium Lab- I didn't bother downloading the other-although it could be better

If there was something that aquatic software could provide what would it be? Im going to start working on a aquatic software that will be free to the public. Im looking for features people will want. Features that i am wanting to put in:

Tank maint scheduling with reminders via txt msg, email, outlook alert.
Tank param tracking w/ upload feature to help network.
Tank timeline for viewing the how your tank looked at different points in time.
Tank inhabitant tracking.

Current i am thinking a windows application and or web app. I want to make the software community oriented. I want to provide the ability for long time hobbiest to post suggested maint schedules that can be downloaded and applied to a newbs piece of software. I want the people having issues or needing advice to have the ability to submit their issues to a help network.

Feedback is greatly desired!

Thanks

Wow i should proof read before i post ^^

JayDial welcome to MFK. I know we don't need a program like that, but lately I've been thinking it would come in handy to have history on each of my tanks. So, if something goes wrong, I can look back at the paramaters. I like the outlook popups.

Ok, so no need for maint software but more of a need for just history tracking?

great idea, but i would never use such a thing. either online or for personal pc. reason being is i keep 17tanks currently, with others empty, with possibility of being filled. so i am a busy man with a paying job, wife, 2nd job with fishtanks, breeding cichlids, very active dog, ATVn, camping, music concerts, xbox360, MFK, online buying crap... the list goes on and on... before i would invest all that time every week if not every day, entering data into a system on everything i did or do, or test or whatever, for my currently running 17 tanks. Finding enough time to watch all my tanks, for any given amount of time everyday seems to get few and far between. That is besides the time it takes to feed and observe couple times a day. however my comp sits right next to 2 of my largest tanks, so i get time to watch those more then anything.

for some more inexperienced ppl in the hobby, this might be exactly what they need to learn proper care. also how everything ties together, also would build a good routine or habit of maintenance to their tank.

oh wait already spent to much time on this...... i got WC's and fish to care for.

J/King :D maybe i'll hire my little bro to enter all this data and purchase one of these programs... hehe

So the issue seems to be entering the data. So ideally we could build a device that could wirelessly monitor aquariums and send data to a central receiver. Now that would be in a perfect world, but probes can be expensive and if you are monitoring 17 tanks it would be cheaper to higher your lil brother to enter all the data. Let me give this some thought and see if there is a cheaper but still effective method.
