what do you need to know?? pm me brother. ive cought countless snook. my cousin is a pro charter captain specialising in tarpoon snook redfish trout etc. i can tell you what works for me consistantly.

Sounds like you have info worthy to share with everybody.

Just found out in today's local paper that Snook fishing season starts Sept. 1 but does not say when it ends.

Am I right in assuming that one can fish for them in any waterway, onshore only, without a salwater fishing license?

When in the year have you found them to be most susceptible to your methods?

Please tell us also about what works for you constantly

yes saltwater fishing from shore,bridge,pier,you dont need a license.
snook permit required when saltwater license required.
in the summer months there more active.
in the winter,when it gets real cold "for us hahaha" you can grab snook from canals lol
if you want to snook fish come visit me.
i use an 18 foot cane pole to get monster snook off a bridge.
it will get your heart pumping more than any other kind of fishing
they call it a stir stick.i get so many looks from everyone on the bridge when i walk up with an 18ft pole and get some snook over 30" on it lol.and i usually do better than everyone else using rod and reel.

waaay back in the day they used to do it.not many people do it now.
its an 18ft calcutta cane pole i think.
rope as my fishing line. you tie it all the way down the pole.
one end has a circle tied on it to hold and the other end has about 4 or 5 feet of extra rope then the lure.
rope is all one piece so if the snook breaks the pole ya still have him.
as a lure,its about 8" long,wood so it floats,and has a big treble hook.
looks like a chunk of broom handle.
you get on a 20 ft bridge,or pier,and hang over the side and point the pole at the water.
keep the pole a few feet above the water and start doing circles and figure 8's.
after a while,you will start to piss the snook of and they will pop it out of aggression.
then you get to pull him strait up to you.
people also have had tarpon hit these.not fun,will snap the pole easy lol.

How do you manage to stay on the bridge and not in the water with the fish.

Forget about breaking the pole, Tarpon can easily pull you over. Lol

no offence but a cane pole is a really outdated way to catch snook. Rope as a line..........your lucky id you get a catfish to eat that bait. you should at least use some thick mono with a bit of stretch to compensate for the strike. id rather use a broomstick rod with some braded line imo.

maybe thats why its so exciting

messiner,only reason its outdated is people are lazy now.
i bet my pole would wear you out in just a little time.
and when hes on,he jurks you all around,not like a sissy pole

It is bamboo pole not a cane pole, they use heavy mono not rope. I lived in Florida for 30 years I seen a few old timers fishing like that years ago, not anymore.What bridge you fishing off of, you did not mention that most of the fishing like that is done at night.
