thats pretty bad to do to a fish... no reason if u really want a fish with coloration just start breeding... make color that way

Honestly what is so bad about this. Its just some ink on the fish like a tatoo. I really do not see how this critically harms the fish. People do other things to their pets to make them more enjoyable, for instance, declawing cats or clipping the tail of their dog.

I could see possibly getting up in arms over the last two examples, but it is only pigment under fish scales.

What does the fish have to pay for work like that? I could hook it with my artist and get it a deal to fix that crappy ink...I have a tattoo of a fish, so maybe we could tattoo a me on it.;)

I'm thinking once the fish has the tattoo it's ok. I mean people have tattoos and they are safe right?...The problem is, it seems they apply the tattoos without pain killers.

I do see dyed fish and tattooed fish as different since a dyed fish continues to suffer, a tattooed fish is fine after the deed is done. Dyed fish suffer high mortality rates, tattooed fish do not ( so I read).

Fish dont have a very well developed nervous system when compared to mammals, so I wouldent be too worried about the pain the fish is feeling.

. I think putting it in a box of water a few feet long does more damage than that dye. I wish they would do this to more fish.
Oh my god,you wish they would do this to more fish?My friend, the dye isn't the cruel and painfull part,it's the ACID BATH they give it to BURN it's slimecoat off for the dye to adhere/permeate.So tell me now if you still think they should make a living off this cruelty?!?!?!?!

Yeah, and while we're tattooing fish, lets tattoo some newborn humans, too. They won't remember the pain, and the spots will make them easy to find at WalMart. Seriously, there is no debate here. This is ludicrous.
