I was at lowes today getting the glass and acrylic for my sump and I saw a tube of silicone thats made by G.E. that claims to be made for adhearing to acrylic it says it's 100% silicone too so it should be safe for aquariums. I bought a tube and will be testing it tonight or tomarrow. I will report back and let you guy's know how it works.

Could you please post a pic of the tube with part number...
I too saw it at an OSH store, and when I went back to get it, they were all gone and the help said they knew nothing about it...:screwy:

Will do later I have to get some sleep I was up all night working. I just read the back of the tube and it says that it sutible for marine applications above the water line but I really don't see why it wont work below the water line if it's 100% silicone and it doesn't say any thing about mildew additives so it should be fish safe.

Might have to do with curing...Some Marine Adhesives, like 3M 5200, can be used under the waterline and they will still harden..

I saw them too. I wonder how well it actually works

Ok,

I had a chance to test the silicone in a few differnt applications and I would highly recamend this stuff.
I ran a bead on the back of my tank and it stuck very well. I also used in building my sump as I cut small pieces and attached them to my glass sump and they have stuck so well I cant get them off. This stuff has passed my test and it looks like we now have a good silicone to use on acrylic aquariums.

but will it hold water in the long run as i had siliconed acrylic hold well for a couple mouths then just peel off.

Same here.Silicone usually has a good initial bond but then just falls off a few months later.Interesting to see how this one works though,I saw it last time I was at Home depot.
