Found some cool wood. You think they could work?

We had some trees cleared on our property last summer. Yesterday just out walking around and I spotted these just laying out. I believe they were Maple stumps. I think they would work for aquarium use, any opinions? They are approximately 24” x 18”

As a hardwood I think it should do great! I would just soak it in a big bin and add some guppies or feeders to make sure there are no absorbed contaminants.

I’ve got a 275 IBC tote I usually do some summer things in.
I plan to dry these stump in some hot summer sun and get the residual bark off the roots then put them in the tote with some bricks to hold them down till they water log.

Stump 1 is pretty wild. If you look at the root structure it looks like an A, these roots don’t just lie over and under each other they are actually growing together where they touch.
