I was at my parents house, which is on a lake, and found this little guy when I opened the garage door to get something out of my car. I gues it was washed out in the heavy rains that we had the past couple of days. I have never seen them around the lake. It caught me off guard when I found it.

I brought it home and put it in my 10g for the night until I can figure out what species it may be.

Looks like an Orconectes species.

Can't tell by the photo--but way nice coloration on it! Any chance of getting a better photo of one of the large claws and one just a bit clearer of the same shot as the one here?
I found one crossing the road in my neighborhood two days ago--heavy rains do it every time. It was funny cuz the one I found was posturing into the 'fight & pinch' position as the cars went over him. Mine looks to be a cambarus species.

Here are some new pics. Ignore the Fruity Pebble gravel...it came with the tank off CL and I never swapped it out.

Thats a pretty quality Crayfish. The ones in the rivers and streams around here in PA are plain grey. Nice find. It has a nice red coloration to him.

So far its eating some lobster/crab pellets I found at PetSmart and flakes that fall when feeding the Silver Dollars. I may get rid of the SD's soon because my JD and Buenos Aires Tetras in my 55g do not like them in their tank. I could then let the crayfish have the 10g to himself, well with the otto in there too.

I wonder what the outcome of putting it with the JD would be? The JD does not like anything except the tetras.
