I think patterns vary between individuals myself and are you sure that what you are seeing is not just normal aggression like columbian cats and bala sharks?

To me it sounds like the hierarchy scene. Mine did that a long time ago, but stopped since they now have order.

I hope it is breeding since that would be neat, but I don't think it is.
 
Who has the largest 4 lined?? Mine is 7" and 2.5 years old.

I had thought that it could be aggression myself but the way these two act around each other is just weird (I've seen one protect the other before) IMHO this has to be breeding but heck I've been wrong before..


P:S my Columbians did show aggression but it was all fin nipping or head butting nothing like breeding so idk...
 
my biggest is 6 inches or so last time I measured him. I have no idea about the age since he came from a 15 gallon tank (back in the day when I knew nothing about fish, about 14 years old then as I bought whatever I wanted without worrying about the fish, yes I know not to do that now), my guess for age is about 8 years or so.

For the OP, I hope they do breed. I would love to be wrong about this :)
