Four Line Pim catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
With where i live they are uncommon to come by. not really rare or difficult but certainly uncommon. out of the 4 LFS's near me only one of them will get in four lines. usually they get 1 or 2 every couple months maybe. I got lucky because i was on the hunt for one and they happen to have him in stock.

I've never seen one for sale before myself locally. lol, well as a matter of fact anything other than ID sharks, and plecos, and the rare ocassional banjo catfish I never see any species of catfish locally lol.

I have one in my large tank and really holds its ground very well. It's not too mean and active. I have mines for quite a few years already. My friend had for 20 years and still alive. The eyes seems to be little hazing but still kicking. He said it lived through everything that happened to the tank. It's about 11" and chunky.

Mine is about 7-8" bought him at 2.5" in January. Eats only at night but eats anything in the tank. Mine is aggressive also but very neat I like him.

I need to spark up my fish life

All I know is, no one here carries them locally anymore. I used to have at least one, maybe 2 several years back. The store I ordered from, had to get it off the internet. The kinds of fish I want are the ones I see in my books, the ones that no one stocks locally. The better lfs have mostly gone under- that petsmart, walmart, petco everywhere kind of problem.

I wanted a big cat, not as big as a channel cat, I call those grow your own catfish dinners. Pictus don't get as big as what I wanted, and even those are not easy to find here. 1 store has them and they are high on prices. I decided to hold out for the one I truly wanted. I have at least 2 other fish on my private list that I can't get around here. I know that they are all out there, just not in Knoxville.

Thanks guys. I stand corrected, I think then. I have been to a good hundred or two of LFSs but mostly along the east coast, NY, NJ, CT, NC, FL, etc. In 9 out of 10 stores I'd see "blochii, tetramerus, and Co". Sounds like I should not have spoken for the whole of USA.

hmmm, sounds like east coast is getting in some though. :)

I have the regular one, I bought it today for my 120 gallon... it was the last fish along with a few silver dillars beacause now my tank is fully stocked... very cool fish, I got a 2 incher at petmart...

i have a 4 line @ 8 inches approx that i got from the craiglist free section after i found my paroon shark had jumped committing suicide. went to the house, picked up the fish, noticed the giant family portrait and realized it was the local weather guy from channel 5 (henry dicarlo), so they fish was aptly named henry dicarlo. they had had him/her for approx 2 yrs (about 4-5 inches when i got him/her), i've had him/her for an additional 1.5yrs. not aggressive at all, loves night feeding. my convict tries to bully him but he doesnt even pay attention. ill try for a better one later, but he prefers to hide
