Frankie III Flowerhorn progress...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update.

Looks like Frankie III had some major worm issues he hasn't had the same appetite the last week or so. So I started prazi this evening then bam...not a happy update but part of the hobby.

Beautiful fish but Hex SUCKS. I lost a couple beauties to it. I feel your pain.

Frankie finally passed all the worms, they were huge! For the last 3 days, every time I saw him, he had extra streamers.

He stopped $#|+in' today so I fed him
a few pellets and a piece of market shrimp. What a relief! I'll do carbon on Tuesday and reprazi to make sure any eggs that hatched are killed before they reproduce. Hoping to see good improvements in the months to come, now that he's actually getting the nutrition.

It's been nearly a month of treatment, and he finally looks like he's coming around from the hex. 2 treatments of prazipro, and a epson salt oral treatment cleared all the worms out. Then he suffered from a red sore on his kok and lack of appetite. I Treated with tetra fungus guard for these secondary infections and he started eating again. He is finally on the second dosage. I was already preparing myself for a big loss, but fortunately he's pulling through.

Looks good! Cant wait till hes back in his prime. Hes a beaut!

Good work. Update us in a couple weeks so we can see how much better he looks.

After a few rounds of that crap, I swapped out all of my tanks to bare glass. It doesn't look as nice, but there is no place for crap and bacteria to hide. It's MUCH easier to keep the water clean! It is absolutely amazing how much "stuff" is hidden invisibly in the gravel.

Thanks for the good words everyone. He's been doing well.

Zero, I totally agree about the bare bottom. I have a few tanks at work that are BB and they stay stable even with little care. Unfortunately this tank is in the bedroom, and the other half enjoys a more natural look. Also, he likes to dig and move things around which I think is good mental stimulation if I'm not around. I am looking into a uv sterilizer, just unsure about flow rate and light contact time, so still researching. Hopefully that will help. Thanks for the tips. Cheers.
