WTF, just found some termites running around on some big logs i collected for the enclosure i'm building. And i was just wondering if there is a way to kill them all including the queen! it is a big log, more like a tree. anyway i can keep this thing without problems about termites or toxins from sprays or whatever??

boil it, fill the tub with scolding hot water with a very small amount of bleach
then rinse the heck out of it

I don't have anythin big enough to hold a 10' long by 3.5' round tree...

if it comes down to it i think u may need to try to get an other tree. just to risky to use chemicals .

Pour the bleach-water into the termite's tunnels.

hold it under water for a few hours in like a river or that to drown them

sorry to say that is a branch.not a log .i work in a sawmill here in p.a. a log is about 3' in diameter. not 3.5'' lols had to say that. sorry

o and if there is a sawmill near you that has a kiln. ask them if you can put the branch in it.the heat around 160% will kill them & dry it out hope this help's

I think you read it wrong... he said ' not "

Heat was what came to my mind also. I'd wiki or google termites and try to find out what temp they can tolerate. 10 feet long, i'm thinking you can slap a little box together out of pole barn siding / sheet metal borrow or rent a propane "salamander" or "torpedo" heater and fry yerself up some bugs. Procuring another branch would be another option, but you seem to be sentimentally attached to this piece of wood :D!
