Once you put it in the enclosure the Termites will last all of a few days........Or get some House Geckos........

my monitor would eat the geckos, or whatever, and the entire enclosure is wood and in my garage.. so i'm trippen about them getting to my house..

sorry to say that is a branch.not a log .i work in a sawmill here in p.a. a log is about 3' in diameter. not 3.5'' lols had to say that. sorry

also that is 3.5' as in feet around. not 3.5" hopefully your not the one reading measurements and cutting the logs..:grinno:

"hold it under water for a few hours in like a river or that to drown them"
also it came from a creek by my house, almost halfway under the water..
I also don't feel like caring that thing to the creek (it's heavy)

can i just light it on fire for a bit?
ahahah

The point was to leave the House Geckos in for about 2 weeks before you put the Monitor in...........

i was thinkin put some green wood and smoke out the termites. burn a medium heat fire and the green wood on it and smoke out the burrows.
the drowning method wouldnt work most likly. ants(not the same but similar) can survive something like 2 or 3 days under water.

I would prop it up over a nice sized bonfire and heat it up and smoke it out.

Do you mean that they will just die off because they would be exposed and cant get to their underground burrows?

Very interesting.

Id just find another branch lol
and yes you could light it on fire while you hold it under water lol

prop it up on both sides and light a fire under it. roast it like a pig over a fire lol.

the only other thing i can think of it to cut it down into smaller peices and then you could put it back together once in the enclosure.
cut it into managable sized peices and then drill a hole and run some small diameter metal tube or re-bar on the inside of the log. should hold it together and if you ever have to move it it will be easier to move around.

thats all i got for now.
