Technically they aren't good for your fish, something about them getting a vitamin deficiency from some other chemical in their meat. Better to use something like guppies, convicts, or rosy reds.

Was hoping they would be going in a pond or tank for life with other goldfish.

Should try GFK, you'll have better luck there!
