Hi there. I'm not very knowledgable in these forums so please let me know if I'm doing this wrong! I have a guy in Chicago who is willing to pay whatever it costs to ship Zurg FED ex overnight. He works with children in a therapy setting has a 400 gallon tank. I would love for Zurg to have a good home like that but am scared about shipping him? I'm sure there is a way to do it safely. Can you give me some guidance? Maybe the local aquariums can help us package him up with air etc?? Thanks so much. ZurgsMom

that would be tough and that person you are talking about sounds very fishy. I have heard of him before and All I can say it........BEWARE. Get cash in advance for shipping first if ever you do it. a catfish that size is hard to ship. What makes it weird is that shipping a rtc that size through fedex would probably run close to $200. If the guy is willing to pay anything, then he can easily get one in the Chicago area for cheaper.

Just some words of precatuion.

I found this good article on shipping fish, its alot easier than i thought! Good luck with the cool catfish!

I know its a huge catfish, and he can get one in chicago, but this one has personality huh and the guy is rich and wants to help.

I think you're missing the point of my post......

this "rich guy" may want to help them out of their money and their fish.

it's easy to prey upon people who want only the best for their fish and sometimes fall for things like that.

Besides, Tim is local and currently has a 300G running and a 1000 on the way.

It may be but not sure. I remember someone here before looking for free fish but and having the story that they work with kids and will pay anything to get the fish. I think if he is looking for dontaions for fish because it's free, he must be out of his mind to think that he is doing his charity a good deed by spending more than what they'd pay for the same fish locally.

Oh and we never saw pics of his set up.

I've been burned before and I hate to see it happen to other hobbyists.

But it's up to the them to heed my warnings or not.

Hi Tim. Gosh I hope you can come get him!!! That would be So wonderful. I will do whatever I can to help. Our last Oscar who is left in the tank is having a rough time, I'm very worried for him. Anything we can do, just let us know. I'd be so grateful....have a good night!! Jenn (call anytime, my husband's cell phone is 240-418-6843--he always has it!)
