BMXer, so you drop the ice cube directly in? I thaw out my cubes in a small container and then serve the bbs.
Call me crazy, but it's working! The great thing about the ice cube method is that it's really EASY! Easy to make them, easy to feed them and GREAT if someone else has to look after your fish when you are away..... "Just pop one cube in a day thankyou..."!
There may be disadvantages to this method - someone is bound to point them out! - but so far so good. The fry all know what the deal is now and cluster round the feeding hatch waitin for me to drop another one in!
I think the key to it would be the water they are frozen in. The Sera Artemia mix I use are great as it's a dry egg/salt mix that you just add to half a litre of water and aerate at tank temperature. I've been told it's a sterile mix, so should be bacteria free..... but then again, who knows until you try it.
I'm about to start another hatching today, so I'll take a pic sequence of the whole thing and post it up here within the next week or so...
