Freezing roaches

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you freeze meat products there is an average of 19 to 30% loss of vitamins, minerals and protiens due to the damage done to cell membranes during the freezing process once the meat is thawed out...

Personally, I think you're going to end up with a bunch of dead Roaches, and a few Lizards giving you stupid looks.........But thats me........

That might be true with varanids, they want to chase those roaches down.

how has it worked, I found a few hissers and dubia in the freezer at work and if their good I would love to feed them to my beardies

I will let you know after today. Today is the first day I have tried them so I don't know how it will go. My bearded dragon loves them lol. So I hope the monitors are the same way

just wanted to update this post.

this method has been working fairly well for me. i started this with the aniticipation that it wouldnt work but so far it has worked great! i have been mixing the roaches in with the feeder mice i feed to them and they have eaten everything i have put in there so far. i dont know if its because they are being mixed with the mice so they get the mouse scent but i will be doing more of this in the future. i may try this with crickets as well.

Not sure if this is an option but you could always sell the excess roaches you have to hobbyists out there. I breed my own dubia and may end up doing this as my population is getting a bit large.
