New batch of Mollys!! Followed an admins advice, don't remember which one but it worked out very very well!! I went to petsmart, picked out the fattest molly (along w/ 3 other females and a male for future fry) and put her in the breeder box a couple days later. The first molly was in labor within a couple hours of getting her! It was great! That was about 2 weeks ago, only about a dozen made it.

I got another when I went to Petsmart for stress coat and testing supplies, and fed the smallest other female to my wolf fish and bichir (these are being bred for feeders) to replace it in the group and again, waited a couple days and just got a fry out! Healthier then last time! Now have about 30 or 40, with 2 plump moms in the tank! You really can't beat this for feeding your preds, plus its fun haha and as I've heard you can make diff combos of diff mollys just for crazy colors haha. I've been thinking about dalmation x mickey mouse I currently breed the Lyretail dalmations.

And I've only been doing this for a couple weeks! Thanks for the advice and I hope this helps others!! Don't trust your fry in a tank w/ parents unless you don't want any

Live bearer feeders FTW

Convicts are much more easier I tell you. They reproduce and reproduce and reproduce and reproduce and the cycle goes on...

Not to hijack, but I agree convicts are easier and more effiecient in the order of quantity.......The plus about convicts is that they put out about 100-200 fry every spawn, thats every 2weeks.......A mollie shoots out how many every two weeks??????????????

I did think about the convicts, but the thing with those is i would need many breeding pairs, plus i know the mollys are good with many females and one male would the convicts also be?

and i know the mollies are good nutritionally, you guys know anything about the convicts?

and the thing i like about the mollies is i can go to the pet store, pick out a super prego one and have it deliver within the first couple days of getting it, have developed fry going in the growout tank w/o worrying about the egg phase at all

Then go for endler guppies. less likely they would eat their offsprings, not unless stressed or they wasn't cared for properly. They're live bearers also. More prolific than mollies.

You only need one female and one male..........Thesefish breed readily within two weeks of being introduced to each other..............Females have colored bellies, as males do not have colored bellies but have (most of the time) a nuchal hump on the forehead

ok! ill deff take a whack at those if i can find em at the LFS, thanks guys! i currently have about 70 dalmation fry now had another fry and 2 more coming soon! breeding live bearers is so much fun, i really do want to try the convicts though whats the minimum size tank for a pair of the endlers and for a pair of the convicts? (not all 4 together ,breeding pairs, seperated at least by divider) id like to get 2 seperate tanks but i currently have 4 tanks going in my room and its nuts haha my water snake eats all my dead fish, hes a wild capture from the chesapeake bay, hes in a good sized tank along w/ pred breeder growout tanks so size will be a factor in deciding which to try next

Here's a pic of the batch now, big difference!
