fresh water dip ....

My main tank has the ICH , Along with most my fish . SO I am going to get the QT up and runnin do copper in a plain empty tank , Also giving dips in fresh water ......
1 ? for U --- How often do ya Thaink I shuld dip my fish (In Fresh Water) ?
Every other day ? Once a week ? every day ?

Copper is poisonous to everything. The only question is whether or not it will kill what ails you before it kills your fish.

That being said usually getting a fish out of a display tank, dipping it and then doing whatever else with it is so much stress that the fish dies. Find the underlying cause to the ailment...and fix that.

Be it h2o quality, nutrition, or tankmates/environment.

If you have crypt on your fish, it's in the tank. You need to pull anything it can host on and let it die off.
FW dipping fish is hit and miss. Some fish do well, others do not. I wouldn't do it more than once a week. Make sure to run low salinity in your Q tank to help prevent the crypt from getting out of control.

Give us some more info so we can try and work something out for you.

I think we can all agree that if you are going to dip (freshwater, not cope ) that it should be done by someone who knows what they are doing and very carefully at that.

I remove the fish from the main thank . How long shuld I leave the tank with no host ?

Shuld I treet the main tank ?

Will my main tank loose its cycle with no fish in it ?

I read not to do the copper mor than one week at 2.0ppm is this acurate ?

I am bulding the copper up slow like .75 a day
Fish seem to be just fine at around 1.25

If you dose your main tank with copper (I would never use copper to begin with.) you will get it in your LR, your sand, and your filtration.

It will never come out, and will kill invertebrates for years to come most likely.

Also rasing you temp is a good idea.....I raised mine to 85....at an ick infestation. Also raising the salt I think is a good idea too.....but maybe lower is better?
