Ah! One of the best fish I have ever kept was the Antennarius biocellatus, A.K.A the freshwater frogfish. Mine thrived in pure fw for almost 2 years with a school of cardinals before an unfortunate power failure led to its death. I think I posted some a few years back, cant remember. I have a general care sheet that I will try to dig up from docs.
I will tell you this: there is a remote population of biocellatus that is caught purely in freshwater. It was in a stream in an Indonesian island if I am remembering correctly. This is the fish you want so you may want to ask your importer the locale of your frogfish. They come in a variety of colors with yellow being the rarest. In my own experience, they prefer live fw shrimp than fish. Mine would gobble up fw shrimp until its stomach was huge. I found mine a bit sensitive with lighting and the ph isnt as high as you might imagine it to be. I would recommend keeping it with a school of tetras you dont mind losing.
If you have the right commitment, I would definitely say go for it. How cooler can it get than a freshwater angler in your tank? lol
