I want to turn my tank in to a bichir community but I thought a fresh water puffer would add alot of personality to the tank. Is this a bad idea? Obviously I am just gonna have like 5 senegals and one puffer to big to be eaten by them. Anyone know???

Thanks in advance ladies and fellas :headbang2,

As a general rule, puffers are mean fish with powerful jaws and sharp teeth. But I have seen videos of puffers with rays. So, as always, it comes down to the individual personality of the fish. However, the chances of getting a puffer (on the first try) that will live peacefully with your bichirs is very slim.

This is why I ask. Thanks guys . Wish I could have a puffer :(

I got a dempsey I love in there. He gets along with the bichir somehow. The dempsey killed my blue acara and a red devil. But him and the Bichir seem to be brothers in arms for some odd reason.

I've kept both large cichlids and bichirs, but not together...
However I just have an intuition that they wouldn't really fight because they occupy different domains and are just so different in body shape...
