Freshwater barracuda Id. Help please.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I know I have kept some Redtails in the past. This yellow had no physical damage whatsoever and died in minutes after acting as normal as could be. It must have been stress I only got him Sunday. He just seemed to be doing so well, swimming the length of the tank into the current and then finding his current free zone in the weeds and just hovering. He was awesome. I got a odoe pike today.

In case you didn't know, cudas are a very skittish fish. Any slight movement will cause them to dart right into the glass. That's how I lost my 8" yellowtail. It's a pity that they die so easily.
I always make sure to turn the lights on low and increase brightness. He seemed very comfortable almost immediately. Maybe that was a sign something was wrong.

It's a good idea to get a group of odoes as well pikes like to school. Also gonna need to save up for a substantial upgrade in the future

I don't know if I'm able to get another one. What else could I do to make him comfortable. I have wood and floating plant and plants that almost reach the top. I'm giving him homegrown guppies but he has yet to feed.

I'm looking at a 125 or 180. Also there is a 150 that's almost square but slightly longer. Ill take any advice. First time with this fish.

Nice pick up, go with the 180, and most people have better experiences with them in groups as said above, but I will say that I've had no problem keeping mine solo, though the only "aggressive fish" I have is my curu and the odoe.
