  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they like to burrow into the substrate.

i have two of them but havent seen them in a long long time

i have heard that the warter needs to be realy crappy for them to survive
(swan clams)

If I got some out of my lake and dumped them into my tank would they be able to survive?

Not so. The water needs to be turbid (as in enriched with micro-organisms) for their filter feeding habits. "Crappy" (polluted, low DO, low nutrient, silt laden, etc) water will do them in quickly.

What can you do for your fish if they get the clams in their gills?

Copper suspension meds will rid the larval clams from fish gills... along with killing every other invert in the tank.
