Yeah..I realized this is "escaping" is common with the moray species in general. After this, I was reading all the SW forums about this problem, some survived 8hrs+ out of water, dried up too. Crazy! Homer bro, not trying to rub salt on your loss, but did you attempt to rehydrate your eel b4 you tossed it?

I did try, but i think mine was out of the water for god knows how long, when i lifted it up off the floor it was hard as a board, so threw it in a bucket i had from a water change the night before but no luck...

It was also underneath ny tank, so i had no idea i lost him till it was way to late...

Had a blue ribbon moray (marine) which constantly made its way past the overflow into the sump.
Now I have tried barricading every gap near the overflow .. to a point where FW shrimp escaping for their lives cannot even get through.....

Well on Xmas eve I moved a large amount of rocks ... woke up on Xmas and realised my Skimmer stopped moving... thinking what a way to start the day i did what most people would do - flick the switch on and off a few times to see if it comes back on.
Turns out the ribbon eel got his tail stuck in the pinwheel pump. Ended up having to manually remove the guy - he lost about 10 cm of his shredded tail.

Still alive though and eating well.

I once dropped one of my morays transfering from tank to tank. Luckily im short and there was a nice layer of dog fur on the floor to soften the fall.
