Just fell in love with this beauty and had to take it home. The guys from the LFS had no clue on what species it was though
Any thoughts?

Any in tank shots? Also where are you located. Generally you’ll be getting a local species

It is important also to know that your anguilla will be at least 40 cm in lenght .And this is valid also for the smallest species from anguilla family.
Whether from Europe or North America or Australia, all eels are similar...
For example, Anguilla anguilla - our eel is 1 meter long in rivers but it remains only 45 cm long in the aquarium...

This tub that he was put in was only to take pictures..he will be upgraded in a 100 gallon tank
