Does anyone have experience with freshwater gobies other than the commonly offered species such as bumblebee, dragon, and peacock gudgeon gobies?

I've recently seen "black line gobies" showing up in LFSs, they are FW and I'm trying to figure out where they come from. For all I know, It's one of the hawaiian freshwater gobies...

yeah no help here. lol. all i have seen are either salt water or brackish

I have a female Stiphodon sp.

Not sure what species because the females are always so drab and it was just one of those random fish that the LFS got in with something else they ordered, so they didn't know. But it does have a black line down it. All I really know is that it eats algae, is from Asia somewhere, and has been living happily in a 5 gallon tank for a month or so.

Oh, and so you know, bumblebee gobies are brackish.

if you go to Fishaholics.org and ask questions there the one person...Barbie...has lots of experience and info on FW gobys!

just an idea!:)

Not all species are brackish water. Look for Brachygobius aggregatus, Brachygobius xanthomelas and Brachygobius xanthozona. All are freshwater gobies. I've kept the first one for almost 2-3 years. The only trouble with them is feeding.

well i would definitely believe anything lupin says... he obviously knows his stuff.

and for the record i wasnt even aware there were ANY FW gobys lolz
