Freshwater Hermitcrab?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Coconut or robbercrabs when young sometimes enter fresh water for short periods and could pass for a hermit at a fast glance, not saying that is what he saw, just pointing that out.

Well i just got back from the LFS that i saw those hermits and the chinese lady who owned the shop told me that they were brakish water species, there were two kinds she called one hermit crabs and the other one fiddlers or something like that, cause she really had a thick chinese accent couldnt really understand what she said. but it was brakish that i understood clearly...maybe guppy has an idea of what these fiddlers are, they're only difference was the fiddlers were slightly bigger. They were both priced at 75 pesos or around $1.50....:D :D

Exactly where did the original sighting take place?

where are they native too guppy?

Concerning coconut crab distribution, I believe this map is mostly accurate:

This Anomuran may attain truly immense sizes.

Thanks Veneer that looks about right.

I've heard of fiddler craps before they look like reguler crabs you might of heard wrong which is undestanable.
There are at least 64 species of fiddler, most are brackish, some are salt, and a few brackisk to full fresh but require salt or brackish for the larvae.
