Is this the freshwater eel you're referring 2? Gymnothorax polyuranodon is its name, im not one for scientific names but anyhow. Just drop it in some saltwater, i have 3, i've had them in freshwater for more than a year with no salt content whatsoever and was told by several people not 2 worry, just drop them right in, they are tough and they dont get stressed easily, mine's back in freshwater again for the safety of my rather over priced clown fish. only difference is they seem more active in saltwater, nothing else really, no health issues whatsoever, no loss of apetite at all, they are definitely little monsters, still one of my favourite's. One more thing for those people who think putting these eels in freshwater is a crime, mine doubled its size in less than a year while in freshwater. Unless im completely wrong and there are 2 species that look exactly the same?.
