freshwater refugium.........

Ive had great success with using macro algae refugiums in my saltwater tanks and was wondering if anyone is using refugiums for freshwater. I wonder if a 20 gallon with a bunch of amazon swords or something would work good.

What do you guys think?

Couldn't hurt... great place to acclimate new fish, temporarily isolate problem fish and helps with the water chemistry. 20g would depend on size of main tank and bio load (larger doesn't hurt). I would rethink choice of plants or add plants like parrots feather, they have better transfer rates for co2 and nutrients etc.
