Drop this guy in your fw aquarium and BAM FW Seahorse.

Warning: this particular spieces is very VERY difficult to get to eat. You're going to have to try a multitude of foods. None the less a very hardy fish. Never had one die on me.

I've heard of this too...ON THIS SITE NO LESS. I think it was a vendor that threw the suggestion out on whether to get some in and everyone was going nuts over it. Last I heard of it since. That was like half a year ago.

"Animals sold as "freshwater seahorses" are usually the closely related pipefish, of which a few species live in the lower reaches of rivers. The supposed true "freshwater seahorse" called Hippocampus aimei was not a real species, but a name sometimes used for individuals of Barbour's seahorse and Hedgehog seahorse. The latter is a species commonly found in brackish waters, but not actually a freshwater fish."

so obviously they are not real and they were trying to scam us

There are reports from time to time of "Hippocampus aimei" being a true freshwater seahorse. One of the two species now identified as this pseudonym, H. spinossimus, is brackish... to marine. Sorry, no freshwater seahorses.

What about the pipe fish tho? Those things are neat. Are there fw pipe fish?

Yes. Enneacampus ansorgii and Microphis smithi are two true FW pipefish that I know of. The so-called FW pipefish usually available in the trade are gulf pipefish can survive in fresh but really need brackish conditions to thrive.
