freshwater snowflake eels?

I've had one in FW for a few months. He was about 9 inches when I got him. I've heard some people say they have to have SW when they get bigger. I've also had a couple of guys tell me they've kept them for years in FW. I kind of wonder if there are 2 or more different eels that people are all calling a Snowflake eel. I don't know but I plan on setting up a SW tank at some point so I figured I worry more about it then. He seems to eat very well but I usually don't see him often. I have added plenty of salt to that tank though (just to be on the safe side). The only fish in there with him are feeder fish (rosies). He seems to eat one every day or so (amoung other things).

Sound fairly normal to you guys? This guy isn't nearly as amusing as my Tire Track was. I miss that guy.

do you have a picture of it? most likely G. tile if you purchased as FW snowflake. I guess individual fish have different personalities...I have had 2 and both have been very active (as far as eels go) about the same levels as E. nebulosa and E. polyzona. Much more active than any of the FW spiny eels that's for sure...at least with the morays I see them occasionally rather than just a head poking out of the sand
