lets see here.... dose of metro and remove all that gravel and start pumping on black worms

that gar looks rather large to be living with such a small ray.

ide remove the large aggressive tank mates and feed him up. are you sure he is eating or are you just adding loads of food and thinking he is eating it?
remove the other fish not the ray, moving the ray around will probably stress him even more.

i bet its rather stressed living with such a large gar. its a wonder it hasent been gar food or the gar hasent tryed to snap at it causing damage.

he needs alot of attention! he is very small and very skinny. he needs beeter food more often.

try frozen blood worm (which isnt great but its good to build up there appetite), very small or chopped up earthworm, black worms, chopped market prawn, mussel and even try hikari sinking carnivor pellets.
make sure every thing is chooped up nice and small, his mouth will be tiny! he is more then likely trying to chew on food thats to large for him and not being able to actaully eat alot.

Completely the wrong type of substrate for any bottom dwelling species, particularly Stingrays that should be given the option of burying themselves if they feel the need,a plain glass bottom would help like already suggested if only in the short term to help get the poor thing feeding.

looks very skinny, I would start feeding it until it woun't take any more food. WC every other day would also probably help promote rapid growth.

a water change isnt gonna promote rapid growth here... some serious food is... i would do a dose or 2 of metro and get to the black worms asap

sounds good thanks everyone, as for the gar hes just a florda gar and hes quite friendly and is pretty lazy. Been watching him ever since ive gotten the ray and he hasn't caused any problems.
Also, the ray hand feeds and i watch him eat all the food so i no its not going to waste or being eaten by the other fish, i will try cutting the worms smaller for him like suggested and keep you posted

thanks again

well if its eating then i think you need to dose with metro...that ray is deathly skinny

LOL

anyways, after dose of metro, no need for blackworms, just use nightcrawlers, they're alot bigger, cheaper, and alot easier to find.
