yea the driftwood I have is over 2 years as well and its also still releases tannins. Must depend on the type of wood, I got so sick of the dark water in a few of my tanks that I was forced to remove it.

I just rinsed it under my sink for 2 minutes and it never released tannins. I guess I was lucky. lol.

I read cypress can leach forever.
Most of the wood I collect never leaches anything,depends on how long its soaked

It seriously depends on the wood. Of the unknown pieces that I have collected and used, I have had some that bleed a little, some -none and some I just threw away because I could not stop them from tinting the water.

I have boiled and let sit in buckets, but I have never tried the salt/bleach thing.

Looking at cypress driftwood online Im pretty sure thats what I got, sucks because I got some real nice pieces.
