I just remembered that Pacific Coast property owners who had dead whales wash up on their beaches are being asked to let them decompose where they lay, in a huge festering pile of blubber. It's for the good of the ecology that huge festering blubbery things should decompose, and the sooner the better.
 
Scientists have no idea why whales do this beaching stuff. Maybe they get so cranky that the other whales won't have sex with them and they just want to die

This is a science building we did for a local high school. It's made from styrofoam "legos" poured full of concrete. It sounds like a much better idea than it really is.

Let the whale decompose on your beach until it’s nothing but bone, then sell the skeleton for big money. Sure it wouldn’t be that difficult to negotiate those terms when a 10 ton blubber ball decomposes on your property for the next year.
