I have no idea who Thanos really is, but the joke was obvious.
I have seen a few of these photos over the years that were done on Hollywood backlots and stuff. Klingons and Starfleet officers and horror movie Monsters still in costume.

I was guessing Game of Thrones, but I don't follow either.
Well Iron Man was OK, and the early Spiderman, but hero movies have gotten beyond control now.
I usually avoid them.
I did see the first Thor, and it was OK. I never read Thor as a kid. Parents thought it was too adult.

I don't think any of you will remember this oldie. This was only published about 2 years maybe 1962 and 1963.
I own every issue of this comic book. All 26. It was a victim of the comic distributor wars of the 60's.
I think it would make a *****in' TV series.
