I have changed password as suggested. A politely written request to his mother that she investigate the recent use of his computer as well as select quotes from his postings might not be amiss and will not directly accuse him of anything except bad taste while letting her know the type of offensive spew he puts out.

No, they are stored as MD5 hash' in MySQL. The harder the passwords, as in large and small characters, numbers, and perhaps symbols make it harder to crack.
