Frisky oscar. Anybody elses oscar do this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gotta love em. I got 5 of them(a lot i know). The best part is that they only recognize me. My mom tells me that after a day of not seeing me the get "depresses" and lay down on the gravel. They are better than dogs!

My O has started the same behaviors since he put 2 and 2 together.. he's abit slwo on the start lol but once he figures soemthign out.. your done. he'll rub his face on the glass (which I hate) so I go over and toss some food in.. I caught myself being trained.. But I have to say my 3 fire eels are just as bad as my O! I keep them all together in a grow-out tank... lights on the O is harassing me.. lights off.. I have 3 fire eels flitting around harassing me giveing me pity eyes for not feeding them more. I haven't been splashed yet... But I'm waiting for it.

My oscar has a 'thing' for our giant gourami in the tank opposite. The second the lights come on he goes nuts and tries to start a fight I've been trying to get a video of it for ages

I put a rock on the lid and scooted the lid back. I just feed him through the gap at the front of the lid so he can't bite and splash. He still throws water out of the crack every night, but that's fine. Crazy fish!

yup this is why i dont keep oscars anymore tired of being splashed in the face or in the mouth with aquarium water lol. even my flower horn doesnt do this.

Funny thread and so true. When my Oscars try to bite my finger I smack them hard and chase them around the tank. After awhile, they learn not to bite the hand that feeds it.

This is why I love my Oscar. It knows the food containers and when it sees me pick up the freeze dried bloodworms and and freeze dried shrimp containers it goes crazy. By far the most interactive fish I own. Doesn't matter where it is in the tank, if it sees the orange, black and white containers it comes flying to the top of the water waiting. Poor thing has a hell of a time catching the Convict fries though lol
