frogfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He would probably appreciate some more rockwork.

What is he eating so far?

he eats guppies but is having a hard time catching them because they are not attracted to his lure il try goldfishes when i find small ones, he doesnt accept anything that is not directly in front of his mouth, does he eat prawns? il try giving him live shrimp if he does, thanks for the suggestion, i will do a makeover in his tank as soos as i get my first paycheck :)

I wouldn't feed freshwater fish like that, he needs proper sw live foods. There are certain fish that can be used, as well as shrimp. You may need to manually feed it, dangling a piece of meat in front of him and wiggling it until he goes for it.

Do not feed GF to a SW fish! They contain thiamise & will cause serious problems down the road. Try damselfish.

You should try to get him onto dead foods.

Why is there no substrate? How was the tank cycled? What are you using for filtration? Also, your fish need to be raised to marine.

as i have said a while ago, i will redo its set up as soon as i get my first paycheck on my first job :)

Frogfish are marine animals. Many SW fish travel into BW & even sometimes FW, looking for food but always go back to the ocean, where they belong. Many LFS will sell them in BW, so they can get more fish into people's homes who wouldn't normally set up a marine system. Selling ploy, I'm afraid... :( I've seen it with juvie dogface puffers, too.

Agreed. He will only do well long term if kept in saltwater.
