Frogs/toads in a 10 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Spring Peepers, if they live around you. If not, some similar tiny Frog. Around here, Spring Peepers like around ponds in pine forested areas. They will probably eat wingless fruit flies. Just don't brag too much about it if your state has tough Amphibian collecting laws

Ok I am looking for something a little active.... Something that will use a tank. I want to be able to keep more then one (could maybe have exceptions) and I would rather them not be noisy.... They are going in my bedroom. I am sorry I am being so difficult lol. And breeding is not necessary.

Have you found any that you like and then maybe we can give you advice from there?

Have you put any though into dart frogs? Out, active during the day, bright colors, easy to feed, one of the easier frogs to keep if you set the tank up correctly. No need to worry about the if you go away for a weekend, etc... Lots of pluses with dart frogs.

I have deff thought of dart frogs. I just feel like they are usually very expensive.... I would love to go that route if you could give me some suggestions on them.

They are really not as expensive as they use to be. Some can be picked up for as little as $30 each.

Check out my website below to give you an idea. If you want to that is. Those are just general prices, some places are cheaper some are a bit more expensive.

If you decide on dart let me know I can atleast get you started with some freebie plants cuttings and leaf litter and such. The setting up of tanks can be a lot of fun.

^^Budgett's Frogs are insane looking. They bite like hell though. And I have heard that they can put a serious hole in your wallet (pricewise, not toothwise  ) But I'm not sure... never seen one for sale. They also are very messy, and their water needs daily changing.

I've currently got a spring peeper in a five gallon hexagon paludarium with a guppy and a lot of pothos. He fits great, is very healthy and only calls occasionally. The sound is not bothersome at all. I am actually going to try and get him a mate this summer. I will also be adding a female guppy. By the way, peepers will eat the small sized crickets at Petsmart or Pet Supplies Plus. (No need for fruit flies)
I have firebelly toads in another tank as well. They are ok, but are not the greatest. For bigger tanks I highly recommend wood frogs or green tree frogs. I keep them in a 3rd tank. They do well together.

I am going to go back to the basics I think and start again on my research and stuff. All of this info has been very helpful and you guys have helped to narrow down my reasearch quite a bit.
