i am looking for a big big friendly frog for my three year old
i dont know any thing about them so if someone advise me wich one would be suitable
ive been looking on this site and them pacmans look cool
this is my first posting on mfk (new to the world of computers)

I hope your three year old won't be caring for a big frog.

It takes lots of maintenance and time in caring for a big frog which most often times lives pretty long; so it's also a dedication.

The most common frog that gets pretty big is the pacman, but its bite can traumatize a 3 year old if he's not careful!

I get this mental image of frog feet sticking out of a childs mouth.
Pacmans and bolivians both can bite pretty good so you might want to avoid those.
You should probably not pick Colorado river toads either as they cause hallucinations.

White's (Dumpies) Treefrogs or maybe tomato frogs would probably be best and the white's are easier to find and much cheaper.

By the way, welcome to MFK.

fire-belly toads are pretty easy, they don't get big, and are cheap.

Handle frogs the same way you would handle a fish. I work with several species, the only way I handle them is with latex gloves that have been sprayed with spring water. This protects their mucous coating. Excessive handling can remove the protective layer leaving an open area for infection.
USE SPRING WATER ONLY!!!!!

Tap water may contain harmful chemicals.
Distilled water does not have the right osmotic factor, and may actually dehydrate your frogs.
Remember they absorb everything through the skin and clean water is extremely important.

Check out www.kingsnake.com look for vietnamese mossy frog----super cool

yeah dumpy great, meet kermit.:D , great beginner frog
