They are community capable if you can find them. There really hard to find but like any other cichlids not for tanks with fish smaller then themselves and just like there cousins the Firemouth cichlids can be a little bad tempered and even worse in breeding mode. There fine in with cichlids or the same or just slightly bigger then themselves but are not as aggressive as the firemouth.
