Meantime what is a lizard I can keep that can be tamed and healthy at the same time.but grows no more than 5feet
If its something I really like and trust me I'm 100% sure I want a monitor/lizard I am willing to commit to the responsibility of housing feeding etc.

Bingo. What's incredibly sad is that people buy a monitor after seeing all the dying examples on YouTube, and they keep it far too cold because they want a "tame" monitor, and when it dies after a year or maybe two, they cut their losses, refuse the idea that it was their fault, and buy another to keep it exactly the same way.

Very sad indeed, a little mind boggling also,

People shouldn't think about themselves so much, and what they want, but rather focus more on doing whats best for the monitor lizard and GIVING IT WHAT IT NEEDS, to live out a fairly decent life in captivity.

Handling or taming, or whatever you want to call it, should be at the bottom, or very low on your list of priorities, if you want to keep these critters.

Bearded Dragon
Crested Gecko (Leachianus, if you want bigger)
Blue Tongue Skink

Tamest of the bunch is the bearded. However, they'll eat you out of house and home in terms of insects. Uro's are cool. One lizard I've yet to keep but would love to some day. Cresties are awesome in terms of feeding but probably not big enough for what you're looking for. Leachie would be more your size but can be pricey. Best for you...blue tongue skink. They don't require as large of an enclosure as monitors and have a pretty easy diet. You won't be going to the store to buy crickets twice a week like you would with a beardie.

Beardies being the tamest depends on the individual. i think the best would be a uro. diet: spring mix with some other greens and squash thrown in.

I would agree with the above suggestions. If you want something a little larger then a Tegu might work well. They are a lot like monitors in terms of housing and the amount of food they will eat, plus the very high level of intelligence, but without the nervousness and general distrust of humans. In addition, they are much more frequently bred in captivity than most monitors, and are more forgiving when it comes to small errors in husbandry.
