front piece of glass on tank bowing??? Please help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got a 29 gallon tank and it bows in the front, it scared me at first but nothing is damaged so i think its okay. Afterwards i noticed that my two 55 gallon tanks also had slight bowing going on between the corner and the brace... so I don't think it is a huge problem. but in a 90 gallon tank you def need a center brace. let us know what you do.

i have taken a 1/4in maybe a little bit bigger thick glass and Siliconed it and have it clamped together i will post a pic of it tomorrow or maybe a lil later on if i fill it up again and it dose not work i will order a whole new trim piece with the center brace attached and just fix it that way

so far so good i have now filled it back up and there is no bowing so yay!

so about an hour after i filled it back up i went back and checked it and i had bowing again this time the glue stuff didnt adhere to all of the support piece so now im back to the drawing board

Not sure how you glued it, but how long did you leave it to dry? coz i know with some silicone, it says best to leave it for close to week to cure...

Why don't you just order a new top frame with a center brace? They aren't that expensive.. maybe $25 at most for that size.

yeah i think that there must have been something done wrong on your part like not apple time to cure or some thing. when u go to glue in the glass with silicon u need to clean the area really good with acetone dry it off well and then resilicon the glass in with the clamps allow to set for 24 hours minimum before adding water then let cure for 3-5 days minimum before removing he clamps. clean the support piece as well when i got my tank the center piece was broken so i cut it out and put in a glass brace never had a problem.

well i did clean the area and it was silicon that took 24 hrs to cure i left it to cure for 52 hrs and what it was clean and i also scuffed the surface so it would ad-hear better but it did not bond to the whole area thanks for all the in put i will leave it for way longer this time for sure thanks again
